Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is finally in theaters, and families everywhere are ready. When will you be able to add it to your DVD and Blu-ray collection?
There is no way you’re missing the second Sonic movie in theaters. The kids want to see it, but so do you. After all, the first movie was way better than you expected it to be.
Of course, you still want to own it on DVD and Blu-ray. That means getting ready for the release to see if you can time it for some sort of special occasion with the kids. Just when can we expect the movie to come out on physical disc to add it to our collections?
As of right now, Paramount Pictures hasn’t set the DVD release date. That’s not surprising. It is just out in theaters. So, we need to look at other Paramount Pictures movies to get a sense of the release.
We have to rule out the first Sonic movie for this. That movie was released during the early part of the pandemic, which led to a lot of changes to how movies were released in theaters and on DVD.
Instead, we’ll look at Clifford the Big Red Dog and Scream as two recent releases from the movie studio. Both movies took almost three months to head from theaters to DVD and Blu-ray. We can expect something similar for this movie.
We could see a release sometime close to the end of June, around June 21 or 28. Alternatively, we may need to wait for the start of July if Paramount Pictures starts pushing the releases to the three-month mark.
The Digital release will be a little sooner. We’re looking at the middle of May for that to happen judging by Scream‘s Digital release.
